The Binghams Save the Day!

This afternoon we arrived home from church and found a turtle sitting in front of our garage. We have no idea how it got there (very slowly I guess!), but we decided that we should move it closer to water. There is a large pond about 200m away on the other side of a main road. So everyone quickly got changed and that's where we headed. In hindsight, I hope we did the right thing - maybe it's been living in our backyard all this time and now we've moved it away from its family. And certainly it was a tad bit traumatized by 3 kids poking at it and being moved in a bucket!

Saying goodbye to our turtle.....

These two shots were just too funny not to blog. Ella loves to play with Elliott and Elliott loves to pull Ella's hair! Elliott came away with quite a fist full! Poor Ella... And what is Owen doing!!

Fun times with Owen

Owen is very much a 2-year old at the moment - lots of fun, with a good dose of frustration at times!! He recently added some lovely crayon art work to our living room walls - the walls have flat paint and so the only way we can remove the crayon is to paint! Also a couple of additional goes at coloring our sofa with blue pen - thankfully that has come off we can only use pencils around the house now.

Here are some pictures of Owen taken over the past 2 weeks..

Asleep... Chris had just read him 2 stories and he was done. He doesn't like to take a planned nap anymore, but at least 4 days a week still falls asleep somewhere mid-afternoon!

Sporting a lovely pair of playdough glasses

This is a picture of Chris and me on the Carthew hike in the Canadian Rockies before we got married. It sits next to our temple wedding certificate in our bedroom. Owen was looking hard at it last week and said. "I go there one day too". Owen we would love to take you there one day!

On Saturday Chris took Owen out on a "Daddy Date". He loaned a bike trailer from a friend and took Owen for a bike ride along the Augusta Canal. Owen loves to say he is going "super-fast=speed" on his trike and so this was just awesome fun to be going super-fast-speed with Dad. Afterwards they went to MacDonald for lunch and a play.

Owen taking his unplanned nap for the day in the bike trailer....

Owen LOVES to play with water. In the bath, at the sink, outside. If it involves water, he's happy! Here he had tipped his cup of water on his tray and was drinking it up like a dog!

Goodbye Scott

This week we said goodbye to a friend. Scott was our home teacher and just 17 years old. His father found him on Monday night on the track at the local high school, it appears he died of a heart attack while exercising.

Scott was an example to all of Christ like love and service. He would always greet me with a big smile and a firm handshake. As if I had always known him. Our children grew to love him also, he would greet them in the hall, tease them and quickly have them laughing.

Last year, shortly after we moved to Augusta, we asked the young men in our ward if anyone could help us lay sod, we would pay them, we just needed some extra hands. Scott was the only one to come and we spent a very hot, sweaty morning chatting and working. He did it all cheerily and with a big smile on his face. At the time he wanted to be a nurse, but over the past year his plans changed and just before he died he wanted to be a cardiac thoracic surgeon.

About 2 weeks ago we went to a friends house to learn how to make Thai food. Scott had also been invited. He was a great addition to the evening. Joining in the conversation and taking notes so we could all enjoy cooking the food at home later.

Chris and I have moved so often and what ever Ward we are in becomes our family. Scott and his family have become family to us over the past year. He has 6 siblings. I spent many mornings at the pool with his younger siblings over this past summer and my heart aches for them. It was a true testimony builder today at the funeral to hear remarks from his siblings, ranging in age from 6 to 21. I'm so grateful for the gospel and our knowledge that families can be together forever.
